Strengthening Capacity of Civil Society Organizations for Effective Interventions in Issues of Peace and Security in Borno State

Overview:

People in Borno state mostly women and children are faced withsituation of myriads of problems including uncertainty and insecurity. In this sort of situation, CSOs have a crucial role to play in facilitating the amelioration of these problems. Unfortunately, most NGOs in the state have not been able to contribute to the interventions as expected. They suffer two major weaknesses with consequences on their capacities and scope of operation- inability to conceptualise problems that are articulated into proposals for funding and their lack of skills to manage projects where funding is available. This has also affected their ability to collaborate on projects; collaboration being one of the major ways of creating the synergy necessary for successful project delivery and achieving greater impact as each member comes with its own experiences and expertise.
